Gustave de Staël was born in 1954 in Paris.
After two years of architecture school, he started painting and engraving, until creating bibliophily books. He then took over the management of the Association for Arts Promotion in Paris City Hall for fourteen years, where he organized exhibitions and concerts. In 2005, he became Director of the French Institutes of Northern Morocco under the aegis of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the end of his mission, he decided to divide his time between Paris and Tangier and to devote himself to painting, which he alternately works as monotypes or outdoors watercolours.
His latest works are black and white pen and ink drawings, providing a more pure expression.
He mainly exhibited in France, Morocco and in the United States. His works are in private collections in France, Belgium, Norway, Tunisia, Jordan, the United States and in Morocco.
