Marjan Seyedin's Gravures and Drawings in Paris Gallery

Gravures and drawings of Paris-based Iranian artist Marjan Seyedin, created between 2006 and 2018, are on show at an art gallery in the same city.

Galerie Documents 15 is the venue displaying pictures of monochrome animals engraved by the artist. Launched September 13, Seyedin’s first solo exhibit in France will continue through October 13, Honaronline reported.

Specialized in engraving, Seyedin, 39, has won numerous awards in France, including the Pierre Cardin prize from the Académie de France in 2010.

In her works, animals are ubiquitous and have an allegorical and symbolic representation. Marjan reinterprets in a contemporary and poetic way traditional engraving techniques, mainly etching, aquatint and drypoint. She is now working on a series of charcoal drawings depicting cloudy and stormy skies, the gallery wrote on its website.

Upon graduation with a degree in graphic design from Azad University in Tehran, Seyedin moved to France in 2003. She received her MA in visual arts at the Marc Bloch University of Strasbourg, then her DNSEP (National Postgraduate Diploma in Visual Arts) at School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg.

She has participated in several group exhibitions in France, Iran and the US.
